Creamed Honey
Down at the honey shop, we've been getting asked a lot of questions about different types of honey and when to use them. We covered the difference between liquid and raw honey in a previous post (), but what about creamed honey? 🍯
What is “creamed honey?”
Creamed honey (aka whipped honey or honey butter) is a type of honey that has been processed to give it a creamier texture. It is typically made by taking liquid honey and whipping it into a smooth texture that is easier for spreading.
How is creamed honey different from liquid or raw honey?
We recently released a blog post also explaining the difference between liquid and raw honey (). But while creamed honey does not retain the benefits of raw honey, it does match the thicker texture.
What are the best uses for raw or creamed honey?
With the thicker texture, raw and creamed honey are best for spreading, whether on toast, pancakes, or sandwiches. They both also make for great additions to yoghurt, granola, oatmeal, or smoothies. 😋
Here at Champlain Valley Apiaries, we recommend stick to raw honey over creamed honey, as it is not processed but only filtered. It retains all the health benefits of additional nutrients, vitamins, and minerals - and it still comes in a delicious spreadable texture!🍯
